![]() Last month we made the trek down south to play @ The Bull's Head in London. What a special night. We had very special guests, Riley Stone Lonergan on sax and Alex Munk on guitar and it was a pleasure to play with them for the second time in a row. Alex brought in a couple killer tunes for us to jam out - and jam we did! Special thanks to Tim Whitehead and Way Out West for putting us on and sitting in on a tune with us. Also we had some very special people in the audience which made it even more fun (didn't think that was possible) My cheeks were still hurting from smiling so much by the time we got back to Leeds!! Next gig is with the usual lineup @ Glyde House, Bradford on 19 Sept. See you there. RSVP on the facebook event here!!
This month we hit Malt Cross and had a blast playing on the same stage as Charlie Chaplin once did! It was a tight squeeze but we managed. Great atmosphere and lovely staff - we are looking forward to playing again!
We had a lovely time playing at Marsden Jazz Festival this year! Now we've got our heads down working on some new original material that we will be able to show off soon.
We've had to say goodbye to Eirik as he starts a new chapter in his life in Norway. It's been so much fun having him in the band and we wish him all the very best! We had our first gig at Lancaster Jazz Festival with our new guitar player, Jim Faulkner who learned the music in a very short space of time and sounded brilliant. We are excited to bring his sound on board and look forward to the future of the band! Lancaster Jazz Festival was excellent - great venue and staff, wonderful audience too. We managed to sell 2 aprons and had a lovely hog roast, an A1 day overall. “The Allsorts Band”; “love the enthusiasm, the drummer is ace!” A quote from a member of the audience, need I say more! Incredibly tight and thoughtful playing combined with them not taking themselves too seriously made for a great performance and I would definitely recommend. Groovy, jazzy and funky goodness in one package. '' If you like what you hear and want to book us, please get in touch - we would love to hear from you! Likewise if you would like to buy an apron or have a comment or idea, let us know!
![]() Last night we packed The Lescar in Sheffield and sold 5 aprons! What a sensational night. Our good buddy Aubin Vanns filled in for Eirik and did a smashing job. Special thanks to Jez Matthews for putting us on. He said: 'Katie and The Allsorts really lit up the room with a combination of tight band playing and musicianship, great arrangements and solos, and a really positive energy throughout. Katie is an engaging and energetic presence on the drums, at the heart of everything that went on, full of rhythmic nuance, and in complete command of her instrument. She has also surrounded herself with first rate players: Russ Henderson on sax was both muscular and melodic, with a great sound, Oli Cadman exploratory and energetic on keyboards, Pete Gavin really solid on bass, and special guest guitarist Aubin Vanns really shining. There is a real sense of the band enjoying themselves and connecting with the audience, and no shortage of good humour - rare qualities. They deserve to be heard more widely (and surely will).' Previous to that we were at the fantastic JATP at the Bradford Irish Club. What great hospitality, friendly people, excellent piano and bright venue. See us again on: 13 June @ The New Bradford Playhouse (Jazz and Cheesecake) 15 September @ Lancaster Jazz Festival, Lancaster Brewery, 2:35pm 11 October @ Marsden Jazz Festival, The Railway Inn, 8:30pm In the meantime, start working on your best cheesecake recipe for our next gig in Bradford! :D Something magical was discovered on our last gig. The Allsorts experience is heightened significantly with cheesecake. What a fantastic crowd on 21/3/2013 at The New Bradford Playhouse!! For all who missed this revelation, don't worry - we are planning another one! Details will be announced soon.
